      Tallow-based balm promotes skin barrier health and hydration

      The skin can become dry or cracked when the skin barrier is weakened. That’s why I am such a fan of the tallow in this Honey Balm. Grass-fed beef tallow contains fatty acids, including oleic and palmitic acid, which are similar to those the skin produces naturally. A review of dermatology literature suggests tallow may work with the skin’s natural structure rather than just coating the surface. This may offer support for the skin barrier over time. A healthy skin barrier matters for patients because it is one of the body’s first defenses against moisture loss and environmental irritants. When combined with olive oil and raw honey, as it is here, I feel confident suggesting this balm to patients wanting to support their skin’s hydration and resilience.
